Bids must be returned to the Office of the Village Clerk, Tracy Memorial Village Hall, 77 Main Street, Chatham, NY, no later than 1:00 pm on June 9, 2025. Chatham High School Graduation Parade: June 27, 2025 8:00pm

What began in 2020 in response to COVID-19 restrictions is becoming a wonderful annual tradition in the Village of Chatham. The Chatham High School Graduation Parade will take place on Friday, June 27, starting at approximately 8:00 PM, immediately following the graduation ceremony.

The parade begins at the high school and will turn left on Woodbridge Avenue, turn right on Kinderhook Street and continue to the traffic circle, down Hudson Avenue, and conclude at the Columbia County Fairgrounds South entrance (view map here). Come out and cheer for the graduates as they celebrate this milestone with family, friends, and the entire Chatham community!

Memorial Day Parade, Monday, May 26, 2025, 11am.

A parade through the village is part of the village’s traditional Memorial Day observance, and Legionnaires and veterans are encouraged by Post Commander James Garvey to participate. The parade will line up at 10:45 a.m. at the postrooms on Woodbridge Avenue and step off at 11 a.m., proceeding over Woodbridge Avenue, up Kinderhook Street to Central Square, down Main Street to Hudson Avenue, and up Cemetery Hill.   Following the services, the parade will continue down Hudson Avenue to Hoffman Street and back to the American Legion post.

NYSEG is Hosting Smart Meter Open House in Chatham on Wednesday, May 15, 2025: 4:30pm-6:30pm.

New York State Electric & Gas (NYSEG) will host informational open houses for customers in Mechanicville, Chatham, and Granville to learn about the ongoing installation of smart meters.

NYSEG customers in the Mechanicville service area, which includes portions of Columbia, Rensselaer, Saratoga, and Washington counties, are having their meters upgraded to smart meters. NYSEG will host an informational open house in the Town of Chatham on Wednesday, May 14, 4:30pm-6:30pm.

Company representatives will provide residents, business owners, and municipal officials with information about installations, including the scope of work, timeline, and customer benefits.

There is no formal presentation. Customers are invited to come at any time during the event and talk to project representatives about smart meter installations.

Public Hearing proposed Local Law 5-min drop-off zone on Park Row

PUBLIC NOTICE, VILLAGE OF CHATHAM, COLUMBIA COUNTY, NEW YORK.  NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING FOR PROPOSED LOCAL LAW ENTITLED “A LOCAL LAW TO ESTABLISH A 5-MINUTE DROP-OFF ZONE ON PARK ROW”.  PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that the Board of Trustees of the Village of Chatham shall hold a public hearing on Monday, May 12, 2025 beginning at 6:45pm at Tracy Memorial Village Hall, 77 Main Street, Chatham, NY 12037 for the purpose of taking public comment on a proposed local law entitled “A Local Law to Establish a 5-minute Drop-off Zone on Park Row.”  This law would establish a 5-minute parking time limit on a section of Park Row in front of the Morris Memorial and will also eliminate an outdated time limit for part of the Main Street Parking Lot. At such public hearing, all interested persons shall have the opportunity to be heard.  Copies of the proposed “Local Law to Establish a 5-minute Drop-off Zone on Park Row” are available in the Village Clerk’s Office, 77 Main Street, Chatham, NY 12037, and on the Village of Chatham website at www. villageofchathamny.gov.

The Village of Chatham will once again offer heavy trash drop off at the DPW Garage, located at 13 Brookside Ave., Chatham, NY 12037. The Village Resident Drop-Off Voucher can be obtained at the Clerk’s Office in the Tracy Memorial Hall, 77 Main St., Chatham, NY 12037. Only Village residents are eligible and will be required to show proof of residency. Limit 1 voucher per household.

Items NOT permitted: Hazardous waste, Animal carcasses, Firearms, Ammunition, fireworks, Asbestos, tires, appliances with Freon (A/C’s or fridges), TV’s, Computers, Office Equipment.

County-wide emergency outdoor burn ban, effective immediately

STATE OF EMERGENCY DECLARATION

A State of Emergency is hereby declared for the County of Columbia, beginning at 16:00
hours today, March 11, 2025 for ALL outside burning. This ban will continue through March
16, 2025 when the New York State BURN BAN takes effect.

The State of Emergency has been declared due to emergency conditions produced by:
severe drought conditions. Such conditions threaten or imperil the public safety of the citizens
of Columbia County.

As Chief Executive of Columbia County, I have exercised the authority given to me under
New York State Executive Law, Article 2-B, to preserve the public safety and hereby render all
required and available assistance vital to the security, well-being, and health of the citizens of
Columbia County.

I hereby direct all departments and agencies of Columbia County to take whatever steps
necessary to protect life and property, public infrastructure, and provide such emergency
assistance deemed necessary.
