The Friends of the Tracy Donate $10,000 Toward Courtroom Restoration at Tracy Memorial Hal
The Village of Chatham is proud to announce a generous $10,000 donation from The Friends of the Tracy to support the repainting and repair of the courtroom located within Tracy Memorial Hall, the Village’s historic municipal building.
Tracy Memorial Hall has stood at the heart of the Village for more than a century. Gifted to the community in 1914 by Mrs. Delia E. Tracy in memory of her son Albert E. Tracy, the building has long served as a civic, cultural, and governmental center. Today, it houses the Village offices, Town of Chatham court offices, Chatham Police Department, and serves as a gathering space for public meetings, community events, and local organizations.
The Friends of the Tracy, a nonprofit organization established with the goal of enhancing and preserving the architectural, historical and cultural heritage of the Village of Chatham for future generations, has been an essential partner in maintaining the building’s historic character and ensuring its continued use for future generations. Through fundraising efforts, volunteerism, and community advocacy, the Friends are committed to protecting one of Chatham’s most cherished landmarks.
The Village is deeply grateful for this latest contribution. The $10,000 donation will directly support much needed improvements to the courtroom, helping to preserve the integrity and appearance of a space that serves an important civic function.
“Tracy Memorial Hall is more than just our Village Hall — it is a symbol of Chatham’s history and community spirit,” said John Howe, Mayor of the Village of Chatham. “We are sincerely thankful to The Friends of the Tracy for their continued partnership and generosity. Their support makes it possible for us to properly maintain this historic building while continuing to serve our residents.”
Maintaining the Tracy Memorial Village Hall is both a responsibility and a point of pride for the Village of Chatham. With the continued support of community partners like The Friends of the Tracy, the Village remains committed to preserving Tracy Memorial Hall as a welcoming and functional space for generations to come.
