State of Emergency Rescinded
As of 6:00 p.m. on Friday, July 3, 2026, Mayor John Howe has rescinded the Local State of Emergency for the Village of Chatham. The water conservation request has also been rescinded.
The Village extends its sincere appreciation to our Department of Public Works, Chatham Police Department, Chatham Fire Department, Chatham Rescue Squad, Columbia County 911, utility crews, mutual aid partners, and all first responders who worked tirelessly to protect our community and restore essential services following the severe storm.
We also thank our residents and local businesses for their patience, cooperation, and resilience throughout this emergency. Your willingness to conserve water, limit travel, and heed public safety advisories played an important role in helping our community respond safely and effectively.
While the State of Emergency has ended, residents should continue to exercise caution around any remaining storm-related hazards and report concerns to the appropriate authorities.
On behalf of the Village of Chatham, thank you to everyone who came together to support our community during this event.
