SCAM ALERT: Calls Using a Village of Chatham Telephone Number
The Village of Chatham Clerk’s Office has received multiple reports of suspicious calls involving the unauthorized use of a Village telephone number.
Individuals reported receiving calls claiming that their credit cards had been used to make online payments for Village water and sewer bills. We believe scammers may be using caller ID spoofing to make calls appear to come from a Village telephone number. These calls did not originate from the Clerk’s Office.
Please keep the following in mind:
The Village will never call to request your credit card number, banking information, or other sensitive financial information in response to suspicious transactions.
Do not provide personal or financial information to an unexpected caller, even if the caller ID displays a Village telephone number.
If you receive a suspicious call claiming to be from the Village of Chatham, hang up and call the Clerk’s Office directly at 518-392-5821.
If you suspect unauthorized transactions or believe your financial information may have been compromised, contact your financial institution immediately using the number on the back of your card or on your official statement.
Thank you for helping protect our community from fraudulent activity.
