Receive Important Village Updates and Information by Text
The Village of Chatham is excited to announce the launch of TextMyGov, a smart text messaging service that makes it easier than ever for residents to stay informed. With TextMyGov, you’ll be able to quickly receive important updates and find information by simply texting the village.
The new service officially goes live on October 6, 2025. On that date, some residents may receive a welcome text from 91896 introducing the service. If you’d like to opt out at any time, just reply STOP.
If you don’t receive the initial message, you can still sign up by texting VOC to 91896. After sending the keyword, reply YES to confirm your subscription.
You may also choose from these notification types you’d like to receive:
· Text VOC to 91896 to receive Village-wide Notifications.
· Text VOCWATER to 91896 for Sewer/Water and Village-wide Notifications*
· Text VOCGARBAGE to 91896 for Garbage and Village-wide Notifications*
· Text VOCGHENT to 91896 for Ghent Water District Notifications ONLY
*Subscriptions with an asterisk include Village-wide Notifications automatically.
Non-village residents are also encouraged to sign up for TextMyGov notifications. Whether you shop or dine in the Village, travel through regularly, work within Chatham, or have students who attend the Chatham Central School District, staying informed about local updates such as road closures, events, and service alerts can help you plan ahead and stay connected to the community.
Through this new tool, the Village of Chatham will share timely updates such as event reminders, road closures, utility notices, and more.
This is another step forward in our commitment to delivering excellent resident services through modern, effective solutions. Communities across the nation are already using TextMyGov with great success, and we’re excited to bring the same convenience to Chatham.
Stay informed. Stay connected. Stay ahead.
Sincerely,
Desiree Kelleher,
Village Clerk
