NOTICE OF PERMISSIVE REFERENDUM

VILLAGE OF CHATHAM, NEW YORK. NOTICE OF PERMISSIVE REFERENDUM REGARDING EXPENDITURES FROM THE “VILLAGE OF CHATHAM WATER MAIN REPLACEMENT RESERVE FUND”.

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that on April 13, 2026, the Village of Chatham Board of Trustees duly adopted Resolution 57 of 2026 authorizing expenditures from the “Village of Chatham Water Main Replacement Reserve Fund” in a total amount not to exceed $35,000, which resolution is subject to a permissive referendum pursuant to Section 6-c of the General Municipal Law and Article 9 of the Village Law of the State of New York. Said resolution authorizes expenditures in a total amount not to exceed $35,000 from the Village’s Water Main Replacement Reserve Fund for expenses incurred for the Coleman Street water main replacement.

 

Said resolution shall take effect thirty days after adoption, unless there shall be filed with the Village Clerk by May 13, 2026 a petition signed and acknowledged by the electors of the Village in number equal to at least twenty percent of such electors in the Village, as shown on the register of elections for the previous general village election, protesting against this resolution and requesting that the matter be submitted to the electors of the Village for their approval or disapproval in the manner provided by Village Law.

 

PLEASE TAKE FURTHER NOTICE, that said resolution is on file with the Village Clerk located at Tracy Memorial Village Hall, 77 Main Street, Chatham, NY, where it is available for public inspection.
